After an unforgettable season of hard work, sacrifice, and relentless dedication, Team IZZA has officially been crowned the #1 ASJJF Team in Malaysia for both the Adult and Kids divisions, closing out the 2025 season in historic fashion.
To make the weekend even more memorable, our athletes also delivered outstanding performances at the ADCC Malaysia competition, bringing home Double Absolute Championships in a remarkable back-to-back competition weekend.
For a team that opened its doors just 18 months ago, this achievement is nothing short of extraordinary.
Champions of Malaysia
When we began this journey, we had one vision—to build an academy capable of competing with the very best in Malaysia while developing athletes of outstanding character, technical excellence, and unwavering discipline.
That vision has now become reality.
Across the 2025 ASJJF season, Team IZZA consistently delivered at every major event, and our final performance secured what we had been working towards all year:

To achieve this with a squad built almost entirely from homegrown talent makes the accomplishment even more meaningful. Every medal, every team point, and every victory was earned through countless hours on the mats, with athletes who have grown together as one family.
Ending the Season in Style
The final weekend of the season featured back-to-back competitions at the ASJJF Malaysia Championship and ADCC Malaysia, providing one final opportunity to finish the year on a high.
At ASJJF, Team IZZA secured:
- 🥇 1st Place Adult Team
- 🥈 2nd Place Kids Team
- 🥇 The Most Gold Medals Overall
Against some of the strongest teams in Malaysia, our athletes once again demonstrated why Team IZZA has become one of the country's leading competition academies.
Double ADCC Absolute Champions
The celebrations didn't stop there.
Congratulations to Coach Hamza and Brother Osama, who both captured ADCC Absolute Division Championships, winning the Advanced and Intermediate Absolute divisions respectively.
Bringing home the coveted ADCC Championship Rings is an incredible achievement, particularly in a ruleset renowned for attracting some of the toughest submission grapplers in the country.
Their victories were the perfect way to cap off an unforgettable weekend for the academy.
Battling the Elements
This wasn't a tournament where everything went smoothly.
The competition tested athletes in every possible way.
Held outdoors, competitors had to battle intense tropical heat, exhausting humidity, and later endure heavy rain that transformed the atmosphere entirely. Conditions changed throughout the day, demanding both physical resilience and mental toughness from everyone competing.
Despite the challenges, Team IZZA remained composed, adapted to the conditions, and continued performing at an exceptional level from the opening match until the final podium ceremony.
Champions aren't only defined by how they perform when conditions are perfect—but by how they respond when everything becomes more difficult.
A Personal Milestone
The weekend also marked another special occasion for Coach Steve, celebrating one full year as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt.
To mark the occasion by helping lead Team IZZA to the top of Malaysian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu made the milestone even more meaningful.
It was also a tremendous honour to share the podium alongside some of Malaysia's most respected figures in the sport, including Professor Bruno Barbosa of Hikari—an IBJJF Masters World Champion and Brasileiro Silver Medallist—and Professor Max Lee of MuayFit.
Standing alongside athletes and coaches who have helped shape Malaysian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu serves as a reminder of how far the local community has come, and how much further it can still grow.
Among Asia's Best
Team IZZA's success now extends beyond Malaysia.
Following the conclusion of the season, the academy has climbed to #42 in Asia among more than 850 ASJJF-affiliated teams, placing Team IZZA within the top 5% of teams across the continent.
For an academy less than two years old, this milestone reflects not only competitive success but the consistency required to perform throughout an entire season.
Built Through Belief
Achievements like these don't happen overnight.
They are built through thousands of rounds of sparring, early morning training sessions, late evenings on the mats, injuries overcome, setbacks learned from, and a group of athletes who refused to lower their standards.
From the very beginning, we believed that if we stayed committed to the process, trusted one another, and continued striving for excellence, the results would eventually follow.
Alhamdulillah, that belief has been rewarded.
While trophies eventually gather dust, the character developed throughout the journey will remain with every athlete for years to come.
